RYUU SHIN

Every prospective New Member is entitled to 1 FREE LESSON.

If we are a "good fit" and you wish to join then there is an amount of £25 payable for Ryuu Shin Membership. This includes your Ryuu Shin BudoPass & Student Booklet, membership of The British Combat Association and your yearly Insurance and it allows you to grade.

I currently run TWO 1-hour classes on each day that we train.

1 - Goshin Jujitsu

The first hour is pure Ryuu Shin Goshin Jujitsu. This is a syllabus-based session where you will learn all the techniques that you will need, to be able to grade in Ryuu Shin. But, since "Goshin" means "self-defence", much of the hour will still be dedicated to very practical techniques that can be used "on the street".

If your goal is to possibly achieve a Black Belt one day, then THIS class is the one for you!

This class requires that you wear a white Gi (training uniform). If necessary, for the first 4 weeks you will be allowed to wear old, very loose, comfortable & safe clothing.  Zipless joggers and a sweat shirt or t-shirt are perfect. After 4 weeks you can only train when correctly dressed in a Gi.

2 – Self-Defence

The second hour has much less emphasis on the Japanese Jujitsu side of things. It is designed as a Self-Defence class and is aimed, to a great extent, to those people who primarily just wish to learn how to defend themselves, or simply to build their self-confidence in a safe and friendly environment.

This class is for Ryuu Shin Members who have NO wish to grade.

There is no need to wear a Gi in this class - old, very loose, comfortable and safe clothing is fine.

If you wish, you can purchase Ryuu Shin-branded T-shirts and sweat shirts to train in. These and other branded Ryuu Shin merchandise can be found here.

If you start by attending the Self-Defence class, you can, at any time (but only with prior permission of Sensei), change to the Goshin Jujitsu class if you then decide you DO want to be graded.

Members are allowed to train at either one OR both classes on the night, as long as the appropriate Class Fee is paid before commencement of the relevant night's lessons.

NOTE: The 2nd hour will still contain Ryuu Shin Syllabus techniques, so any Ryuu Shin Students who wish to accelerate their learning would be well-advised to attend both sessions if they possibly can.
